this line really says a lot about mirage because

1. him wanting to be a real boy was a hint to show that he wants to live normally on earth and experience earth’s culture because he’s tired of the war

2. he’s quoting someone that said that line to him. so now im wondering who did and how was it brought up in conversation?

so here’s my delusional theory:

Bumblebee (2018) was set in 1987 and Big was released in 1988, which could mean that when bee finally regroups with mirage, arcee and optimus, he was keen to share earth culture with them.

But very obviously, optimus would be against it because of how this isn’t their planet and stuff. so one night, bee brings mirage and arcee to the drive in theater with him (they are so siblings to me) to watch Big.

now this is where the line comes in. i think mirage would be in awe while watching the movie and said something about how he wished he was a real boy to go through the same experiences. now this just feels right to me, but arcee would be the one saying “Mirage, big is just a movie. you would never be a real boy” because shes the logical ‘older sister’ in the group while bee probably had the same wishes as mirage but did not say it aloud.

so ever since then, mirage has been hung up about it
